Updates 1-24-2014
Below are several resources released by PARCC in the past few days that will help teachers, administrators, and students prepare for the field test. Please share with your districts and schools as you feel appropriate.
1) Sample Items on the Technology Platform
The sample items provide teachers, students, parents and others the opportunity to work with different types of items (e.g. drag-and-drop and multiple select) and computer-based tools (e.g. calculator, equation editor, and highlighter) that will be available on the PARCC Computer-Based Assessments. A second release of the sample items that will include additional items for public use will be available February 20, 2014.
The Sample Items are web-based, available 24/7, require no log in or password and can be found at http://practice.parcc.testnav.com/.
2) Online Tutorial
The online tutorial will contain a sequence of screens that demonstrate how students will navigate the test and how to use the computer-based tools and features that make the test more accessible for all students, including those with disabilities and English learners. A second release of the online tutorial that includes all item interaction types and tools as well as additional accessibility features will be available February 20, 2014.
Please note that items appearing in this tutorial are not PARCC items. They are examples used to allow students and educators to gain familiarity with the technology platform that will be used for PARCC assessments. These online tutorials are web-based, available 24/7, require no log in or password and can be found at http://practice.parcc.testnav.com/.
3) Infrastructure Trial
The Infrastructure Trial is designed to be a “dress rehearsal”exercise where LEAs will simulate their full testing environment before the operational test administration. This dress rehearsal will be performed using a full size Infrastructure Trial test form and “mock”student information to simulate a full testing load at the site. The test form and “mock”student information for Infrastructure Trial are currently available to all Computer-Based PARCC Field Test participants in the PearsonAccess Training Center which can be found at http://parcc.pearson.com/TrainingCenter.
There are two training tools associated with the Infrastructure Trial:
a) Infrastructure Readiness Guide
b) Setting Up an Infrastructure Trial/Dress Rehearsal Training Module
